Is Your Advisor an Eeyore?

No, no, no, no! You can’t do that! That will never work! We’ve all run into that person – the “Eeyores” of the world. Do you think of your financial advisor like that?  Is he/she always saying no? Story of new client: always saying “no, you can’t spend on that”.  Wanted to retire early, “no, we agreed on 65, get another job”. Other advisor type: “I’m the expert, you don’t know this stuff, how dare you question my advice”. Story of new client who wanted to meet quarterly and ask why ?s. But what do you want your advisor to say?   Yes, yes, yes. Story of client who was clearly over spending – 11% withdrawal rate. Advisor said it would be fine, the market was forgiving. 3 stories – 3 types of advisors you don’t want to have: No, you can’t do that… How dare you question my advice… Sure, anything you want is fine, as long as you pay my fee… It doesn’t have to be like that.  It shouldn’t be like that.
